Foreword [Volume 16 No. 2 (2016)]

Issue 74 is here. We have 10 rigorously reviewed manuscripts. We wish to congratulate the authors for a job well done. For the first time this year, I attended the annual CSE (Council for Science Editors) conference which was held in Denver Colorado, USA. I found it extremely informative and was able to network. The exhibitions were amazing. Attendance was about 450. I particularly enjoyed the roundtable meeting for journal editors-in chief. It was interesting to learn how similar many of the experiences were. Next year the same meeting will be in San Diego, California. This year a number of meetings I am associated with are indicated below:

  2. Creating Shared Value (CSV) Forum in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire - June 21, 2016
  3. CABI Review Conference in London- July 26-27, 2016
  4. Annual meeting of the International Association of Food Protection, St Louis Missouri, USA - July 31-August 3, 2016
  5. IUFoST (International Union of Food Science and Technology) biennial Congress in Dublin, Ireland-August 21-25, 2016
  6. TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development), in Nairobi, Kenya- August 27-28, 2016. First time to be held outside of Japan since 2003.
  7. World Food Prize Borlaug Forum, in Des Moines, Iowa, USA- October 12-14, 2016, where both WFP Foundation and SAA are marking 30 years.

There are so many more meetings and convenings to address the challenges facing the world today. In my space, food and its quality, safety, nutrition and quantity, are major concerns as the world population grows and sounds more restless. The papers in this issue are shown below:
