This is everyone who works on the JOURNAL: Editor-in-Chief, Intern, Editorial Assistant, Assistant Editor and Technical Manager

We are happy to release issue 70, carrying 9 papers and a short communication all of them thoroughly peer reviewed. We wish to congratulate our authors and commend them for their patience. We do not make any pretences here: our review process takes time as it is thorough, but also fair. We always count on our 100+ reviewers to take their time and assist us in our quest to capacity build and give visibility to African scientists and scholars. Please take time to pick a paper on a subject of your interest. We would like to hear from you and so would the authors.

We also have invited commentaries in this issue, covering a variety of topics including biotechnology. Also we have profiled young scientists; as you may have guessed by now: I just love young people as they are our future. I have highlighted Consolata Musita (Kenyan), a First Class graduate from Kenyatta University now looking for postgraduate opportunity, and Joyce Agyei-Amponsah (Ghanian), who is an AWARD mentee and has provided a write-up on underutilized African crops. Both of these young people have shared their writings in this issue. If you can extend a helping hand, please reach out to them.

Also shared in this issue are some reprints of interest. There is, for example, a blog by Kenya's renown scholar Dr Calestous Juma (now at Harvard University in the USA), which he allowed us to share. Finally, we are proud to join in congratulating Dr Akin Adesina of Nigeria, for winning and rising to the coveted position of President of the African Development Bank. Of course we in the agriculture, food and nutrition security arena expect a lot from him: he is one of us, after all. We wish him all the best in this position.

There is a lot more. Please enjoy this issue 70.
