Reaction to Issue 99 Editor's Note

Dear Ruth,

Congratulations on another great issue. Your editor's note is clear and reinforces the messages of the original WFC and the ICN. Much needs to be done to improve public health and nutrition, and poverty is certainly the most basic problem. You (and I) have done all possible to move things in the right direction and I do hope that out efforts will help overcome the inertia among the rich and powerful that blocks progress towards more fair systems for all.

As a food control specialist over the years, and as an entomologist/FDA inspector, I particularly liked the articles on grain storage in Nigeria, and on the effect on aflatoxin on infant growth in Kenya. Two very well planned and executed studies that should have an impact on the politicians that need to know about these problems and the impact that they have on health and the economy.

All the best
John
