Prof. Victor Okoruwa

Okoruwa, V. O. is a Professor of Agricultural Economics, with specialty in: Resource Economics, Agricultural Policy, Agriculture & Rural Development, and also, Impact Evaluation. With a doctorate in Agricultural economics, he joined the services of the University of Ibadan in 1993 as lecturer II and rose to the rank of a full Professor in 2006. He has served his host university in various capacities including, Chair, Department of Agricultural Economics, Chair, University Senate Curriculum Committee, Member, University Senate till date and Director, Academic Planning till date. He has published extensively in reputable journals and have over 150 scholarly articles to his credit. He has successfully supervised several B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. students in his field. Over the years, Prof. Okoruwa productively engaged in several scholarly collaborative research and academic exchange programmes nationally and internationally. Some of which include: Research fellow, International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Ibadan (1991); Visiting scientist, ILRI (2003); Visiting Faculty, Collaborative PhD Programme of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) Joint Faculty for Electives in Nairobi (2004); Visiting lecturer, Collaborative Masters in Applied & Agricultural Economics, University of Pretoria, South Africa (2006); Visiting scientist, AfricaRice (2008); Guest editor, African Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (2013); Guest lecturer, Universities of Nairobi and also Abomey Calavi, on Economic Modeling of Food Security Analysis (2015 and 2016, respectively); Resource Person, AERC- review of grant proposals, work-in-progress, and final research documents (2016 till date). Prof. Okoruwa spearheaded a study for ReSAKSS West Africa on rice-maize stratification and competitiveness in Nigeria. He was also the lead consultant for IITA in an impact evaluation study on CAPRO II project on soybean in Kano and Benue States, and also for cassava value chain in Nigeria. Professionally, he is a member of the International Association Agricultural Economists (IAAE), Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA), African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE), Africa Australia University Network (AAUN), Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists (NAAE), and a Distinguished Fellow of AAAE, and Fellow of NAAE.
