Personal reflections by her husband Prof. Richard Douglass
I am writing with great sadness to let people know that we have lost our friend, my wife, and good neighbor, Marian Horowitz. She died after dealing with over 5 1/2 years of cancer treatment and almost 20 weeks of hospice care at home with me. She died peacefully and with dignity on January 22, 2020. She worked on service, craft, and creative projects until just one day before she died. She was my muse and inspiration.
A celebration of her remarkable life will be held on Saturday February 29, 2020 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation on Saline-Ann Arbor Road in Ann Arbor. Arrangements are not finalized but the service will be approximately from 5:00-7:30, including a meal.
Marian will be remembered for her compassion, courage, brilliance and ability to love.
With hope for a brighter future in a sane world.

Tributes to Marian Horowitz
We at AJFAND Kenya knew Marian very well, through her husband Prof Richard Douglass who offered serve on our Review Board before we ever met. Thereafter the visited Kenya and even started to support Bachelor’s Degree education for our Editorial Assistant Ms Emily Kavesa as well as supporting pay school fees for the poor children I identify and support. I have visited them severally in Ann Arbor, Michigan USA. What wonderful people these are. I feel for Richard. They were so much in love, so caring for each other and for others as well. They were both so proud of their combined families. I pray for Marian’s soul to rest in Eternal Peace, and for Richard to find solace in Christ and family, and in fond memories of what they shared. Rest in Peace Marian.
Your good friend Ruth, KENYA
I was saddened to hear about the passing of Marian. My condolences to the family. Your loss has left a big gap in the family and society as a whole. You were a good woman with a pure heart. You extended a hand of help to many of us and we were really grateful for your support. You have gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
Rest in peace Mariam
