African Journals' Visibility
To gain enhanced visibility and international prominence, SAJE focuses its emphasis on improving the designs, quality, efficiency and timeliness of African journals. This is done by improving the review process, editorial decision making and reducing the time between submission and publication. Funding is sought to facilitate the processes and reward the reviewers, for a streamlined and speedy process. Further, enhanced current web-based advertisements and linkages are being utilized for increased visibility. The society encourages editors to list there publications in the open access bibliography and where possible, links are provided to sources that are freely available on the internet . For useful but commercially unprofitable work, free distribution via the internet might be the appropriate medium. SAJE has developed guidelines, policy issues and ethics for editors, authors and publishers for quality journals and is educating the stakeholders on the importance of the worldwide web in improving quality and visibility of African journals. Improvement of the quality of the journals is also done by holding training workshops for editors, reviewers and authors and indexing published African journals. Print journals are widely distributed with clearly developed operational guidelines. |
