PROFILE

A Special Student!

Dr. Edith Mukudi, Assistant Editor-in-Chief and reviewer of AJFAND, holds a Bachelors of Education (1987) and a Master of Education (1992) degrees from Kenyatta University, Kenya. She received her PhD in Social Foundation at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1998, with a major in Comparative Education and a minor in Nutrition. Between 1998 and 2000, she was a Post-Doctoral researcher and Field Coordinator for the University of Califonia, Los Angeles (UCLA) USAID supported Global Livestock Collaborative Research Support Program (CRSP) Child Nutrition Project in Kenya. She also taught at Kenyatta University in Nairobi between 1998 and 2000. In February of 2001, Dr. Mukudi joined UCLA as Assistant Professor in the Department of Education of the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA. Dr. Mukudi serves as Coordinator of the HIV/AIDS project at the UCLA Globalization Research Centre - Africa. She is a Research Associate with the Cetre for International Development Education (CIDE) and an Associate Faculty for the internationally renowned UCLA James S. Coleman African Studies Centre. Her research is focussed on the linkage between nutritional status and specific outcomes of school attendance and achievement in Kenya and on factors defining access and participation in primary education sector for African countries.
Edith Mukudi was a student of the Editor-in-Chief of AJFAND, and assisted her in research for a number of years before proceeding to the US for her PhD studies. Edith is a great African professional and resource in the DIASPORA.
