RECENT BEREAVEMENT

ANDREW SHIBWABO

ANDREW SHIBWABO ’S ROLE IN RURAL OUTREACH PROGRAM

Andrew joined ROP in 1999 as an in-charge of water springs protection activity and capacity building of community development groups. Since then, Andrew has been the key technical person in these areas. The organization has protected over 100 water springs in Butere, Lurambi and Khwisero divisions. Andrew was at the center of all these. He also helped to prepare more than 100 development groups in areas of project identification, business management and record keeping.

Because of his experience, Andrew has been able to train others. It shows that he understood the need to empower community members to eventually take charge of managing their own activities.

ROP today has a working cost estimation for a water spring protection, thanks to Andrew’s input. With this knowledge, it is now easy to help the community appreciate, plan and participate in the work, fully aware of the financial implication of any activity they engage in.

Andrew leaves behind a rich legacy, in the organization he worked for, and the community he served with high devotion. We hope that many in this community will aspire to fashion their lives in the footsteps of our beloved Andrew.

Andrew leaves behind his father Mzee Kataka Omusebe, wife Linet Iminza Shibwabo and children Winnie Mweche, Susan Andayi, Rose Musamali, Patson Kataka and Emmanuel Omusebe.

REST IN PEACE BROTHER
