Dr. Suttilak Smitasiri is
AJFAND Reviewer, Member of AJFAND International Advisory Board and a FRIEND of AJFAND.

She received a bachelor of photographic science and printing technology from Chulalongkorn University and two masters degrees in development communication from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and applied communication research from Stanford University, USA, as well as a doctoral degree in community nutrition from University of Queensland, Australia. As head of the Division of Communication and Behavior Science at the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University, her interests and experiences lie in developing innovative food and nutrition policies and programs, community-based action programs, social marketing, integrated communication for change and processes of nutrition and health behavior development at population level. She received the Ceres Queen Sirikit Gold Medal for her outstanding contribution to nutritional well-being in Thailand presented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1992, and Mahidol University’s Outstanding Research Award in 1994. She has also served in the International Vitamin A Consultative Group since 1992 and as a member of ACC/SCN high level commission for nutrition in the 21st century between 1997 and 2000. Currently, she is a member of the board of trustees for the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Occasionally, she works with international agencies such as WHO, UNICEF and development banks to support national nutrition programs in Thailand and other Asian countries.
